Ashok Leyland resumes plant operations across the country

Commercial vehicle manufacturer Ashok Leyland on Wednesday announced that it has resumed operations in all its nine factories across the country. 

“With the relaxation of the lockdown, we have resumed operations in all our plants across the Country, after obtaining necessary approvals from the relevant authorities,” Vipin Sondhi, Managing Director & CEO, Ashok Leyland Limited, was quoted in a statement file in exchanges.

“We will gradually ramp up production across facilities after taking into consideration the Work in Progress (WIP) that were on hold at the time of announcement of lock-down, the supply chain readiness after opening and most importantly the preparedness of the ancillary units to supply us critical components, for sustained production of vehicles,” Sondhi added. 

The company also said that resumption of plant operations is in accordance with the stated guidelines as given by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and the relevant local authorities and the company will ensure all the necessary health and safety protocols in its facilities for all stakeholders.

Besides its ‘Mother plant’ in Ennore, Ashok Leyland has factories in eight other locations including two plants in Hosur (Tamil Nadu), Bhandara (Maharashtra), Alwar (Rajasthan) and Patnagar ( Uttarakhand) among others.
