VE Commercial Vehicles (VECV), a joint venture between Volvo Group and Eicher Motors, on Monday announced that it has sold 686 vehicles in the domestic and export market in the month of May 2020.
The total sales is down by 86 per cent from 4,801 units sold in the same month last year.
In May 2019, the company sold 4,750 units of Eicher branded trucks & buses and 51 Volvo Trucks in the domestic and exports market.
In a regulatory filing, Eicher Motor Limited said, “In accordance with the directives of the Government and relaxations of lockdown in the country owing to COVID-19 pandemic, VE Commercial Vehicles Ltd. commenced lean operations across all plants in the month of May.”
“As per government and administrative guidelines for the phased opening of the lockdown, many of the VECV’s suppliers and dealerships have also resumed their services. During this partial lockdown, VECV has reported sales of 686 vehicles in domestic and export for the month of May 2020,” it added.
On May 8, VECV announced that it has started lean operations at 25-40 per cent levels at seven of its plants across the country. These include plants at Pithampur, Dewas and Baggad in Madhya Pradesh and Thane in Maharashtra.
