Prime minister Narendra Modi said that he was shocked by the sudden demise of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput on Sunday.
“Sushant Singh Rajput…a bright young actor gone too soon. He excelled on TV and in films,” PM Modi tweeted.
The Bollywood actor was found dead in his house in Mumbai’s Bandra, his representative and Mumbai Police said on Sunday. He reportedly hanged himself.
A team of police has reached his house at Carter Road and are investigating the reason for his death.
The 34-year old actor was last seen in the movie ‘Chhichhore’ – which dealt with extreme pressures of academic competition. He also appeared in Netflix’s ‘Drive’ movie.
Rajput, who became a household name for his performance in television series “Pavitra Rishta”, made his film debut in the critically acclaimed movie ‘Kai Po Che!’, which is adapted from Chetan Bhagat’s bestselling book ‘The Three Mistakes of My Life’.
‘MS Dhoni – The untold story’, a movie based on the real life inspiration of former Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni, catapulted Rajput to further limelight, making him a favourite star for both movie and cricket fans.
“His rise in the world of entertainment inspired many and he leaves behind several memorable performances. Shocked by his passing away. My thoughts are with his family and fans. Om Shanti,” PM Modi’s tweet added.
