TN CM Relief Fund receives Rs. 36 crore

The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s Public Relief Fund (CMPRF) has received a total contribution of Rs. 36.34 crore to aid its fight against the spread of coronavirus in the state. The contribution came from leading corporates, industrialists and individuals.

In a press statement, the Tamil Nadu government said that in response to Chief Minister Edappadi K Palanisamy’s appeal last week, people from different walks of life have come forward and made significant donations to the CMPRF.

The Chief Minister on March 27 made an appeal to the public to contribute to the relief fund in order to support the government’s effort to stop the spread of coronavirus and to provide relief measures to those who are affected by the lockdown. 

The government also shared the list of donors, who have contributed more than Rs. 10 lakhs to the relief fund. While TVS Motor and Sakthi Masala have contributed Rs. 5 crore each, Asian Paints and Simpsons donated Rs. 2 crore each. Tamil Nadu Governor’s office and DMK Trust have contributed  Rs. 1 crore each.

The contributions were as on March 31, the government release said.
